Lawns Gone Wild: Food Forest Design

  • Prince Memorial Library 266 Main Street Cumberland, ME, 04021 United States (map)

March 2, 2024 | 10:00pm - 11:30pm

Location: Prince Memorial Library, 266 Main St., Cumberland

Join Aaron Parker of Edgewood Nurseries to learn how to design a food forest at your home. A food forest is a way of laying out a landscape to mimic a natural forest, providing food and other human needs with a minimum amount of external inputs and maximum benefits to wildlife and the greater environment. This workshop will introduce the concepts of ecological niches, analogs, and resource partitioning so you can design your own home-scale food forest. To help you implement your design we will also cover best practices for starting a food forest and recommended species to plant.

The Lawns Gone Wild educational series is offered in partnership with the Prince Memorial Library and the Town of Cumberland’s Sustainability and Orchard Committees.
