PORTLAND PADDLE’S SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT TO BRING
- Footwear that can get wet
- Non-cotton clothing that can get a little wet
- Sun protection
- Extra layer for warmth (i.e. windbreaker or fleece)
- Phone and/or camera (dry bag provided)
- Water bottle & personal snack

WHAT’S PROVIDED
- Solo or tandem sea kayak
- Paddling gear (PFD, paddle, dry bag, spray skirt)
- Licensed Maine sea kayak guides

TANDEM VS. SOLO
Portland Paddle uses both tandem (two-person) and solo (one-person) sea kayaks on guided trips. With larger groups on open waters it is essential to use some tandem kayaks to minimize the number of boats on the water. We find that tandems are best for most people because they are more stable and spacious and allow groups to travel at a much more consistent pace.
