PROPERTY DESCRIPTION

LongWoods Preserve began with the landowner’s vision of a community gathering place consisting of a working farm, farm-to-table restaurant, event space, live music and art venue, and trail system. CCLT helped realize this vision by conserving this 54-acre property in partnership with Maine Farmland Trust in 2022. This property contains prime farmland soils and soils of local and statewide significance, and has been a farm for at least the past 150 years.

Containing approximately 1,700 feet of frontage along the East Branch of the Piscataqua River, this parcel has 6 acres of ecologically important riparian floodplain. The healthy, mixed-age forest provides excellent wildlife habitat and a protective buffer that benefits water quality. A wide variety of ferns, native wildflowers, moss, and mushrooms dot the landscape depending on the season.
